|I tried WSAT on a number of winsocks (IMHO, none of them work properly

I don't really think so - WSAT is a very valuable tool for the stack developer,
but has never been intended as a compliance tester for the general public for
evaluating windows sockets stacks. In general, the _only_ person who can
interpret the significance of the various pass and fail modes is the
programmer who is writing the WINSOCK.DLL. It is still a 'beta' program, and
many developers disagree
with some of the tests, and it makes assumptions about operations that
are not entirely justified, causing failure returns that are actually
the result of a successful operation, so in the hands of, say,a corporate
evaluator it would cause more harm than good. It is for this reason that it
is not generally available.

But that's really not a problem of the client application but of the Winsock
implementation. Dynamic loading of Winsock works very nicely when you are
connecting over Ethernet or other networks which does not involve dialing the
phone. The Winsock stack really has to delay any network calls until the
dialing and log in have completed.

I found the Telnet client that comes with Chameleon 4.0 to be excellent ...
but that's not free.

Happens to me all the time - certain pages will give me a internal

using Win32S 1.5. Those maps and pages show fine using Cello though.

It's okay. But I haven't figured out how to put a .sig in my reply

use that to download my news using uqwk and read offline with YARN.
Much better than reading online.

I'm having the same problem. Version 90.6 works just fine.
I got version 91.03 and I can send mail, and I think that I am actually
posting messages, however, after I post the followup article, WinVn
just sits there (I am assuming, waiting for some sort of response from
the server that it's not getting). At that point, I can't read anymore articles.
I get an error, still communicating with the server error.
